The link took me to the NYTimes article on self-publishing--which left out something.

The combined company represented 19,000 titles in 2008, nearly six times more than Random House, the world’s largest publisher of consumer books, released last year.

I'm thinking Random House's book sales for one month (heck, maybe for just a week!) outstripped the self-pub houses combined sales for a year.

Here's something for the PA lurkers:

Cathy Langer, lead buyer for the Tattered Cover bookstores in Denver, who said she had been inundated by requests from self-published authors to sell their books. “People think that just because they’ve written something, there’s a market for it. It’s not true.”

Any of you Denver PA victims give that venue a shot?

The book no longer shows in PA's online bookstore.

It does still show on Barnes and Noble and Amazon as available, with PA as the publisher, and shows some of the best rankings on both sites that I have ever seen for a PA book.

I think it should be emphasized that the author was accused, but has NOT been charged with any crimes according to that article. Our legal system still says he is innocent until proven guilty.

Nor will he likely be charged unless one of the women was part of a prominent family. He'll likely either be 'invited to resign' or reassigned to Antarctica.

I don't care, it is still freaking bizarre and just soooooo . . .. PA
