The UK-based "The Cat magazine" is running a contest through February 27, 2009 for cat-themed short stories (fact or fiction) and poems. Short stories up to 1,000 words, poems up to 500 words. Optional donation of 5 British pounds.
First prize is an HP Pavilion DV6000 series notebook PC (I have one, they're pretty nice!), runner-up gets a journal and Oxford English Dictionary.
Writer retains copyright, publisher retains reprint rights.
