I mailed a copy of my novel to a relative that has read a million+ books. She just got it from the post office last night. I've been terrified to hear what she thinks of it as only my daughter has read it.
Anway, she just called and said she thinks it's really good and she's already on page 100 as she can't stop reading. She thinks a lot of women will be able to relate to it, etc.
It was such a confidence boost to hear I don't suck!
It was really satisfying hearing her speak about the characters passionately as if they were real. The world I created was alive and we were actually discussing it. It makes me want to get published even more.

Congrats! I am too terrified to even share the plot of my book with anyone, even my husband. I know I've got to get over that.

Congrats! It's an awesome thing to finally hand over your work, isn't it? It's hard not to look over their shoulder to see what part has brought a smile on their face or what they are grimacing about. I know the first time I gave my work to my boss, I pounded her with questions about it until she finished reading it. :D Oh, well. It gets easier to hand it over the more you write. ;)

Congrats Zipotes! Does that mean that you're going to send it out for publication?

Overcome the fear and find a way. Trust me when I say it will drive you harder to write more... and write better.
