I'm securing a domain for my website. I'm buying the domain for my full name and getting it to redirect to a URL of my choice, but I'd like my main URL to be something more fun (not to mention easier to spell).

I'm torn between

www.untilhannah.com

and

www.hannahjubilee.com

tell me which one you prefer? Please remember I'm a young YA writer, so something fun like these is appropriate.

Thank you!

(I'm trying to add a poll, but God knows if it will work)

are you writing under the name hannah jubilee? because then my choice would be that. it's one thing to have a fun site, which im all in favour of, but you want to make it as easy to search for as possible. parents are going to be searching for you too. ive seen some site names that made no sense at all and were almost impossible to find. I would say, go with the normal name and make the site itself fun.

eta, congrats on the website, whichever you chose. although i got to say www.youareanidiotchooseabetterwebsite.com is really hard to type out. :p

Nope, I'm writing under my real name--my big, clunky, impossible to spell Jewish name. :)

but if someone types in myrealname.com, it will redirect to whatever site I choose. I'm purchasing that domain as well. So that's a nonissue.

I've gotta go with www.untilhannah.com. For two reasons. Cuz that one's is really cool. And because I really hate the word 'jubilee'. I don't know why. I always have.

For what it's worth, they both okay, though I think hannahjubilee is easier to remember (and the cadence rolls off the toungue better) than "well, geez, I KNOW it was something-hannah - or maybe it was hannah-something." But as long as the person can remember your published name or the name of your book, Google is likely to find your site for them, so I don't see it as any big deal.

And with the popularity of the "Miss Montana" thing, I'm surprised there's any domain name with the word hannah in it that's still available.

I think I know what it might be. I recall this Sunday morning TV show named Jubilee, it must have been some time in the 1960's, it had all this country-flavored Christian gospel music, what would now be called "praise music." I can still hear that theme song now. If you've EVER heard it, it's etched into your memory.

I looked on Youtube but couldn't find it - There IS A God.

Thanks, Ben--I actually was concerned about using a word with a Christian connotation--I'm making efforts to give my career/image/thing a sort of a Jewish powershot. You don't see too many young Jewish female writers writing about anything other than being a young Jewish female, you know? Anyway, that's another story...

Like the idiot I am, I actually clicked on those links thinking you were asking us for an opinion on the website design (doh!). I won't tell you what "Hannah" I got a list of websites for, but I suppose I'm not surprised by the number of them.

Yeah, ditch the Jubilee. Too close to sounding like a bible thumper.

Hi, glad to see you went with untilhannah.com -- sounds better to me, too. What does the "until" part mean? And, as one with a long Jewish name, I'm all for the URL redirect -- of course, I'm too cheap to buy davidgoldschmidt.com and have it redirect. :tongue At least the domain is not in use. If you need a hand with the Web design and implementation, let me know. ;)

untilhannah doesn't mean anything, really...but it is my email address, so it'd make it easier to find me. it's what my editor suggested, as well.

Thanks guys! glad my choice is approved :)

Jubilee is one of those words that's easy to misspell - go with untilhannah, imho

I think you need to go with something very easy to remember. If your full real name isn't going to work, I'd start with, perhaps, readbreak.com, if that's available. Or booksbyhannah.com (assuming Hannah is your first name -- I don't know!). Something similar. I like both untilhannah and hannahjubilee, but my gut instinct says to go for something more intuitive. Your mileage may vary.

Isn't the Year of Jubilee a Jewish custom? I thought that was the year to forgive debt, let the fields rest and return land. I might be wrong.
