I've done 50 plus posts and as I understand it, I can upload (?) my own avatar. How I do that? I can e-mail a picture as an attachment but that's the extent of my technical abilities. any advice would be much appeciated.

Hi Mike. You'll need to save an image on your computer that is within the allowable limits: 80 pixels by 80 pixels, and a file size no larger than 19.5 kb. I would use gif or jpg format.
To upload it, follow these steps:

- Go to your User CP
- click Edit Avatar
- scroll down until you see the Custom Avatar section and check the little button beside Use Custom Avatar
- click the Browse button, and look for your avatar file
- hilight the file and click Save and the system will upload the file to AW
- Once that is completed successfully, click Save Changes, and you are done.
Well, I tried it Chucky C and using a phot shop program I fooled around with a picture but 80 by 80 pixels resulted in a wierd blocky fractal like image. Uncle Jm's picture, for example doesn't like anything like 80 by 80. What am I missing?
Any suggestions other than the obvious like learn to us photo shop stupid!

Mike, was it originally smaller than 80x80? (Or maybe it's not a square?) If the dimensions were smaller, you should be able to use it (like Uncle Jim's, which is more like 50x50, I think). You can e-mail it to me if you want me to try uploading it for you. jg @ jennaglatzer.com.

One has to have 50 posts to use a custom avatar. So, seeing that you're at only 52 posts, maybe you weren't at 50 posts yet when you tried to upload your avatar? Try it now, now that you're at 52 posts.
