...I'm not really sure if I'll find anyone with this specific area of expertise, but here goes!

I have a GREAT idea for a sci-fi novel, however, the progress of the story hinges upon the author possessing an intimate knowledge of the Space Program (NASA), the military and planetary geology. While I currently work for the military and have worked for NASA, my engineering background gives me no clue about geology.

Sooooo....

If you are a writer out there with a strong knowledge of geology (especially planetary geology!!), you're a hardworking and sincere writer and you love sci-fi...I would love to hear from you! Some aspects of the story will have to change depending on what's feasible and what's not, and I'm not just looking for a "source" on the subject; I'm looking for someone who wants to be equally involved in the creative side, who can help with brainstorming and who has an eye on the market.

Hi AirforceAuthor - There's a possibility that as much as you need to know for a sci-fi book is available on the internet - if you know how to look for it (like putting search terms that go together in quotes).

I'm finishing up a geology based sci-fi thriller and found a wealth of information on the net. But, to make sure I got everything strung together correctly, I asked a prof of the correct geologic discipline at our state university to review it. He was delighted and only made a few suggestions. So, it can be done. I did a tremendous amount of internet searching (plus consulting books I had available) and developed files of information on the topics I wanted to address. In the process, I learned a lot that wasn't known when I finished up school.

So, that's a possibility for you. Puma

Hey AFA!

What sort of geology stuff do you need? My uncle is a retired Topographer. If you are needing info about mapping and that sort of stuff, I could ask him to talk with you. His wife is a professional editor so he may be happy to answer questions for you. Otherwise, I can hunt around and see if I can find another resource for you. Just let me know.
