Hi, how are you all? This is my first post.
I am writing a novel set in southern California in 1877. There are two questions to which I can't find an answer and thought I'd turn to fellow writers for help.
1. My hero gets several puncture wounds from metal -- would he be aware of a belief that puncture wounds are likely to lead to tetanus?
2. Money. I can't get any good info on what things cost in 1877 in the territories or what would be considered a large income, comfortable, poor, and so forth. Because my books deals with social class, this is a real problem.
Any help would be gratefully received! -- Elfkatze
