My female MC will carry a gun at times. I was thinking about a Glock 26.
Any opinions?
Thanks!

S&W even makes some models they call "Ladysmith".shoot- i was just at the gun shop. The guy showed me their best selling gun for women. I held it in my hand, it was light weight. My husband says that all he remembers was that it was a Smith & Wesson 38 revolver. Don't remember the specifics. But the guy at the shop said it was popular because it was small and light. He said with all the 'stuff' women carry in their purses, a gun can start to feel heavy real quick.

Hold on, I'll see if I can find a photo of one.I looked for Ladysmith on the S&W website. I didn't see it. Does it look like a 'girly' gun?
I didn't even know that made those thing with pink grips until I went to find the link for you. Thanks for posting that. I can see how they'd be easier for a woman to grip. My MC is a former Insurance Fraud Investigator who's now a PI. She's tough, a recreational boxer, and I want her gun to depict that attitude. The pink handles are definitely out, although they're cute.
$751.00. I didn't realize revolvers would be that expensive.
Strangely, I also have a stainless steel Model 60. Note that it's a five shot revolver. Perhaps I'm a girly man. It was my plainclothes gun for years, a durable, no nonsense weapon. Thanks for posting that. I can see how they'd be easier for a woman to grip. Revolvers are better for the 'casual' shooter for that very reason. There's a lot less to go wrong with a revolver.RG my husband bought a 38 revolver, so I don't think you are a girly man. He said it is less likely to jam than a semi automatic so it would be good for home defense.
If I had a main character who was a criminal, there is no way he or she would carry my gun, because it would break my heart to have to throw this in the river (even in fiction,) and any criminal character of mine who carries a gun knows enough about guns to not want to carry something collectible.
As a related aside, in competition shooting, casing catching devices on semi-automatic race-guns have become popular. I'm sure canny crooks have already followed suit.
Aren't those brass catching devices kind of large? Hard to conceal? This is a great thread, btw
