Because somebody used the phrase in the December thread, and because I can.

:Sun:

Happy New Year, all!

(words...or plotting...to follow in the daytime ;) )

1,066 slow dim-witted words for Jan 01, but 1,066 words nevertheless. still coasting on the fumes from yesterday's sudden burst of Nazi Conspiracy Theory, I guess.

Happy New Year everyone and thanks for starting the thread Annie!!
Nothing yesterday (too busy finishing the contents of the box of chocolates :D) but YYYYYIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEE I got 1,000 words written this morning! It was torturous (sp?). I've been putting this off for weeks... used every excuse under the book, flu, Christmas, chocolate... but I finally got the ass in the chair today and got going again. Phew! Now I'm not back in paid employment till Monday so that'll be the real test... but the ambition at the moment is to start Monday at 7am and get this project up and running again. Feel free to poke away!

Slow, dim-witted words? Come on, now, Captain! It's more fun if you don't judge. Besides, lots of people woild be thrilled with that word count. :)

Here, have a sun:

a serious attempt at plot restructuring this morning with the help of an Excel spreadsheet. Two whole chapters out of seven already written are just going to have to go. So much for my air tight outline.

also 728 well thought out and strategically placed new words. Another day or two of that and my little plot that could should be back on track.

:D

Hmm, ok, I lied. No plotting yet this year. A couple of handwritten pages for a scene that doesn't fit anything, but was fun to write, and a bunch of prep work for a major cross-stitch project. I was panicking over the cross-stitch deadline (it's going to be a Christmas present, but it's big), but I found a different present for Christmas 09 (yay clearance), so now this is planning two years ahead. Aren't I organized? ;)

Cap, ouch, sorry about your outline! But yay for back on track. You're still way ahead of me. I bought posterboard and sticky notes for my outline. And yay for new words all around.

This sounds like a challenge I can jump in on since I have a couple of novels in the works. Don't know if I'll hit 500 words everyday. Thursdays are Satsang and meditation nights after work so I don't get much writing done. But it's probably good to take an break now and then.

:welcome: mariedees! Jump right in. I think you'll find that many of us don't necessarily fit in 500 words a day (although some of us apparently speedball work much more diligently, ahem).

I actually managed some outlining this morning. This is something I was told I have to do. So I'm doing it. I'm not enjoying it. I rather like being surprised at the end of the book. But I'm gritting my teeth and doing it.

Now I have to restart the actual writing part. For some reason I'm reluctant. I've been away from this WIP for too long. Then there's the fitting-in of the Nazi Conspiracy Theory (which all first drafts must have, something I only learned recently).

Happy January, all. :)

I have an extra surplus of words to the tune of about 7K that I cut out of my WIP two days ago which anyone can have, or I could divy it up in 500 word increments and spread the wealth. Don't everyone jump at once. First come first served. Think of it as a white elephant sale - for free!

there's only one catch - you have to actually incorporate my words into your current WIP. And prove it.

Just over 1000 for Saturday. I want to have another chapter ready for Critique Circle and I have to have it ready by Tuesday for next week, so that spurs me on a bit.

500 today and solved a bit of a plot hole. The real test will be tomorrow though... back to work in the REAL WORLD and have to keep up the New Year momentum. Wish me luck :) Have to keep saying to myself I can complete this novel in 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No words for me. Didn't sleep a wink last night, so my brain is mush. Actually looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow so I can get some routines in my life again!

1,800 for Sunday -- editing a chapter. But 1,800 was what's left after taking out unneeded bits. Sometimes it's all about what you take away.

(Using the sparkly avatar until I have enough posts for my own.)

Morning all! New Year really starts here... 800 words for me. Not great ones but they are there and I dragged my ass out of bed at 7.05 to write them before work! Tis the little victories...
Manderley good to see you back! I know what you mean about sleeping... I can never sleep on Sunday nights particularly if there is a big week coming up. Monday will be easier! xSB

Welcome mariedees. My, this thread is growing! It's good to see all the new posters, and some of the regulars returning after the busy holidays.

744 words for me today.
