It seems kind of self-explanatory, yet I'm not quite up on exactly what goes into it. I've been asked to head one up for our writer's group--and I'm not quite sure if I want to take on the responsibility. What's all involved in an undertaking such as this?

If it's within your writing group, don't.

Rich is right if you value a peaceful life! However I have a mass of information about running writing comps, far too much for this board. I run a National writing comp at home and am often asked this question. Contact me via my board email and give me an email address I can send it to.

Well, another group will be judging our entries, and we'll be judging theirs--so basically I'm in charge of finding judges, collecting entries, distributing them and that kind of thing. Technically, it's not within our group.
