Watcha Reading?

ELMontague

I just completed Brazen by Maya Banks. I've actually moved to Mountains of Madness by HP Lovecraft, but I picked up a few books Sunday to add to my reading list.

Reading is learning. What's on your plate?

I've read them too. Don't feel sucked in, just because they're popular.

"Seduce Me", a collection of erotic short stories (pubbed by Avon Red) by fellow Ravenous author Dahlia Shweitzer.

Just read a Black Lace book of women's sexual fantasies. They were supposed to progress from vanilla to a bit more spicy as the book progressed but I thought they just got more and more ridiculous. Because they were written not by writers but by 'ordinary' folks, the language used was jarring, repetitive and so far from erotic as to be laughable. Perfunctory rather than erotic. "I often think about inserting Tab A into Slot B"-style stories.

I am on to Orcs by Stan Nichols and have Bedding Down by Rachel Kramer Bussel next on the list. I try to be well rounded and read from all over the bookstore.

I recently read her "Moon Called" It was pretty good, but I was a little disappointed as it was inconspicuously advertised as erotica or at least steamy romance and there was nothing spicy at all. But... it was a good book and I enjoyed it, despite the false lure! *lol*

Hmmm, it wasn't labeled that when I bought it. I did find some scenes erotic, though. I guess not everyone would, but her fee attitude about her own nudity was erotic, IMO.

Her Mercy Thompson series is what hooked me in and got me reading her other books. Mercy's my absolute fave though, I've already prepaid for book 4 in the series, due out in Feb.

Yeah, a bit I think, I liked how she didnt have any nudity hang ups but it also seemed more than since in order to turn into a coyote, it was a necessary evil she had gotten used too, rather than any enjoyment at being nude. I guess compared to all the authors she is compared too, like Gena Showalter, Kresley Cole, J.R. Ward and the like, her's dont qualify as erotica methinks. Not even really a romance if you ask me. And thats not a bad thing... just that it was advertised as being more like the other authors I mentioned and her stuff is miles away different. Very little romance at all, no sex at all.... in comparison, her's is PG13 whereas the others authors are rated X.
