You know, back in the good old days, actors were given stage names that sounded better, more theatrical or less ethnic. For example, Frances Gum became Judy Garland; Achibald Leach became Cary Grant. Norma Jean became Marilyn Monroe. Tom Cruise dropped his last name.
Nowadays actors can have names like Brad Pitt or Chiwetel Ejiofor and no one would bat any eye.
If Brad Pitt were to find a better name, what would he be called? In my mind...
Brad Pitt => Bradford Preston
Rebecca Romijn => Simone Lake
Maggie Gyllenhaal => Margaret Grant
