Hi all--

I'm not too long out of my MFA program and I'm missing the workshops and community there. I'm sure there are others who are in the same boat, and I'm hoping we can connect here. (You don't have to have an MFA, of course; I've just found it easier when my reader and I have both had that experience.)

My degree is in poetry, generally experimental but not too weird, though I've also been writing short fiction.

Some of my influences are Jorie Graham, Lorrie Moore, Brenda Hillman, Amy Hempel, Raymond Carver, Matthea Harvey, Arielle Greenberg, and Margaret Atwood.

I'm happy to read/critique for you as well, of course.

as you mention Lorrie Moore and Raymond Carver, I'd be happy to discuss (?) your writing with you. To include such extremes in your influences hints that you have a fully-rounded mind!
I also veer towards short stories and poems, though have just finished a novel and am onto another one. The poems etc get squashed in between (with all respect to them,of course.)I go to two writing groups which are encouraging and lenient in criticism, so any development is done here alone, hence being interested in Absolute Write's beta idea. If you would be interested in an older woman over in the UK, a sort of literary Miss Marple livig down a country lane, then do get in touch.
