Since the day of my birth I have lived among humans. Having been raised by them, I have no knowledge of my own. To be certain of my heritage is my heart's desire. Long have I have mourned for truth.

Of circumstance, I know only that a human male was the first to discover me. The same took me into his home and raised me as his own. No greater love could I have for this man who became my father.

Many details remain to be discovered. The humans can take me no further. My blood cries out to become all that I am. A multitude of questions run wild through my spirit. Like Mewlips, these dark places of ignorance threaten to consume me.

To my elven brothers and sisters, I implore you to make yourselves known. Allow me to partake of the heritage that has long eluded me. Share with me the bread of our mighty lore.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

A note to readers:
I wrote this post because I fear the adage of, "Use it or lose it." I am beginning to feel dried out from lack of using my imagination.

I chose to initiate the development of an elven character because I enjoy Elves more than any other living things found in the genre of fantasy. It is my hope that you will be interested in helping me develop this thread.

What I wrote contains overused ideas. I did not try to avoid doing this because I have faith that our combined creativity will resolve the issue.

As far as I am concerned, there are no limits as to how you should reply. That is, of course, keeping in mind the limits of what is allowed to be posted in this forum.

Feel free to add on as the main character or as some other character. Be an elf, a human, or a unicorn if you want. For those who add on as the main character, it will be interesting to see if the character's behavior and personality remain consistent.

As I have pointed out many times before, I am not a writer. I have absolutely no intention of benefiting from anything that is written here other than to tap into creativity.

Sincerely,
Gehanna

No human has yet been able to grasp my chronic ... yearning. I cannot explain it, but it has been clear to all who know me well. I put on the skin of a human to laugh and be merry, but there is always something false about it. I do it to spare them too many glimpses of the internal pain, and put a stoic face on the despair in my soul.

There is something missing - as if I am turned away from a great light. Do all of my kin feel this melancholy? Are they too banished from touching our true realm? Or am I only this way because they have found a link to the shining glades of our origins, and I have yet to connect to that same magic and music that fills the external exile?

Gehanna, you were suppsed to have read the manual that was set beside you at the banish point. I don't know what crime you committed to deserve banishment to walk among mankind. Your only legal option of recinding the banishment is the completion of that task as set forth in the aforementioned manual. You must find it and then you must read it. Then you will understand your task.

*Looks at GeorgeK in shock at the thought of having been banished. Responds to him in like manner*

Manual!? No mention has been made of any such manual. Why would I have been banished? I was only a child when my father found me. What crimes could I have committed?! *sighs* If what you say is true, my first task will be to find this item.

*Breaking eye contact from GeorgeK and thinking to self, "I have had dreams. Faint dreams of ..." *Interrupts own thoughts by shaking head in disbelief, "No, they are only dreams."

*Looking back at GeorgeK now....

I will go to my father. Perhaps he knows of this manual.

Ah, More banished elves. The king must have grown in his insanity since i was banished, if children are thrown away as well.

looks at Zornhau's aproaching mob. Worry not about them, their type is in every town and city. Come, I know of a rebellion against this current king, headed by his banished son.

Yes, the humans fear us. At times they will let their irrational fears whip them into a frenzy - and their leaders will allow it to keep the masses sated.

I do not judge these actions. We are intruders after all, and evoke the primal fears of legendary creatures of the primordial forests.

If only they knew the dark forces kept at bay by our sylvan rituals...

Harken not to the pale-faced baby-stealers!

Trust in cold steel and the cry of Deus Vult, which shall resound in their Hellish caverns as we trample them into detritus of their own blasphemous existence.

Come Brothers, let us paint the Cross on our breastplates, have the priests bless horse and man, and ride to victory!

DEUS VULT!

If only their Child-God realized his power, and that of his followers, the humans would rival even the Lost Nations. Sadly, they come with blood in their hearts, and glory on their tongues.

Let us not flinch from this battle, my brothers and sisters. Our blades have gathered dust for too long. If our enchanters cannot seal the Gate, or we should fall beforetime, one of us must carry the burden of life somewhat longer, and quest for the truest of men. Deliver the Tome of Ages, and a warning: the blood of elf and man taste the same to the Outsiders.

Zornhau old comrade! It is true! The tree-dwellers gather to their annual Mope.

I have swived my wife and that of my brother who is lost to the lands of the saracen. I have fasted, prayed, am shriven, and the smith has honed a new edge on my dead father's notched brand. For honour, fae silver and the glory of God, let us winnow the point-eared archers like chaff and scatter them weeping into the wilds. Let us spill the brains of their infants like curds from a bowl and perfume the woods with the incense of their burning homes. Let us flay the feet of their fathers and march them, red-booted to their own pyres. Let the ears of their maidens fall to our blades like autumn leaves to the tempest and let us thread them upon strings of swinegut for our daughters to dandle in their cribs. Let their skinny widows claw out their own eyes for grief and sup nothing but ash for all their eldritch days.

Death to the fae! Deus Vult!

Hmmm. They're raving. Pass the nukes, will you? I think we need to sterilize this one and start over.

You dream of the Vortex, don't you? I don't dream any more. I am now part of this world. The Vortex is a gateway to the Dark Star where many of the elves are. It might not be the only place. You must not enter the Vortex without having read the tome, the manual. My Faeling is rusty from so many decades of disuse, so my words are clumsy. I have studied the ways of science on this planet and have found a commonality among some of us. I don't know if is the same for you. Do you crave...anchovies?

For if you do, then the banishment might not be for any crime, but rather for the circumstances of your birth. Some of us were born malformed. You can tell it in the shape of our ears all lobby and round. We don't absorb the light of the Dark Star the way the Fae do. Over time we would there go mad with pain and hunger, for there we would be calcivores. You would start on the sly by eating bugs and small snails, secretly hiding it from the others. Then it would be whole fish for it is the bone that you crave. Eventually you would start to hunt the Fae themselves.

There is a rebellion of those who are angered by their banishment. They are called Deus Vult. They have ignored all science and reason and have been enlusted by the cravings, vowing to war on the distant shores of our long lost families. There are stories of old that say that we might be their bastard children and the Fae, feeling it more merciful left us to this planet where our gentler spirit might grow and mature to the point of a mind rational enough to control the craving.

Beware, my kin, there are humans who are more like us than you have been told. Our journey here was one of flight, but theirs is an eternal exile for crimes unspeakable.

The Dark Brotherhood is a real thing, and surely is behind the wanton slaying of our people. They will stop at nothing to bend the Gate to their will, and unleash the crusade of manipulated humans against elfs of all realms.

The fae! The fae come! See how they burn our barns! Soon it will be our churches and crofts! In the name of God they must be slaughtered to a mewling babe, their silver plundered to pay for the evil they do us, and a tithe made into church candlesticks! Guard your women! Lock up your babes! Paint the white crucifix upon your harness and mount your steed! To arms! Slaughter the point-ears!

Silvanae delenda sunt!

DEUS VULT!

Nivarion slumps panting against a tree, farther into the woods holding his right shoulder. he has a cut in it, in his hand a short sword with a little blood on the blade.

"wow, ... this group is fanatic... normaly they would have run for the buckets and made a water chain, but this group went right for the swords..."

he stands, and whipes his sword on his cloak and finds an arrow in it.

"And their bows. Ah, holy christ that zornhau fights well." sheathing the sword "At least I winged him."

Poor creature. I almost pity it, halucinating as it bleeds out at my feet.

Come Brothers! We have cleansed with steel. Now we must do so with fire.

Damn it, what happened to that nuke? What do you mean you can't find it?
I'm sure I stashed it right here.

Okay, even if you don't care, that's no excuse. Thunderbolts? What can you do with stupid thunderbolts? <Snorts with disgust>

<Sets forest fire. Expression changes as the thing spreads to cover several square miles.>

Oooh, shiny!

as the halucinations fade, the craving, the strange craving for bones and living creatures leaves with it.

there was no forest, no escape. an arrow in the back, and a sword wound across the chest. a life of insanity and sanity shareing a hold on his mind, broken by deaths soft touch.

slowly opening my eyes, i see the towering form of Zornhau, with just a small wound on the ribs, looking down at me. the smell of smoke filling his nostrils.
"I'm, I'm me again. I don't want to die, im alive again." he whispered to his slayer. "But thank you, I'm me again."

and death sweept him away.

(i may come back latter, as a different person, an elf, or one of the humans but for now, Cheers :) )
