Would anyone care to participate in a 'Rapid Fire' poetry session an evening or two during each week?
It would be much like an improv session where a prompt(topic) is given and poetry is written right off the top of one's head, posted within 3 minutes, then commented on; much like the poetry game in the threads, but quicker.
Just wonderin'.......... (it could be fun)

i would watch with interest. not sure i would participate (for reasons that have everything to do with my neurosis and nothing to do with the validity of your idea).
you might want to try sunday, late in the evening. that seems to be a good traffic period.

I might go for that; it would depend when it was. (I'm not home till very late on Tuesdays and Thursdays.)

bringing this back up to the front..... perhaps a night or two at 10:00 pm EST?
That would be 7pm for the west coast... or one week night at that time and a day on the weekend at an earlier hour so anyone across the pond would be awake to participate?

Albedo,
It sounds like fun. Let me know when - if I can, I will.

10 pm would be okay, if it's a friday or saturday. otherwise maybe a little earlier? 's just that I have to get up at 6... (but school will also be out soon, so...)

I'm going to try this at two times tomorrow, Thursday, May 19th. Then again on Sunday, May 22, same times.
1:00 pm EST for the daytimers and 10 pm EST for the afternooners so the west coast can play too.
If anyone would like to post the beginning topic any of those times, pm me and I'll post a list of Rapid Fire Hosts.
I am posting a new thread later this afternoon to explain how the game starts.

I know this is really old, but I ran into it and thought it may be a fun idea to try one night as a chat theme, so I bumped it up to see if anyone was interested..and to see what others thought of having a chat night once in a while.
Well?

I like the idea, really liked the rapid fire poetry idea. I work Sunday through Wed nights...but come home pumped, like last night and can't go to sleep right away so.
I wanna play wit you.

which time zone do we use? I'm in US @ EST.
I am on the computer some mornings. Mostly in the evening after 9pm.
I have Thursday-Sat off with some commitments.
is this going to be a rapid fire poetry or a chat room conversation?
I'm not so keen on chat rooms.

If there's enough participants, I'd love to participate in a rapid fire poetry session and see how it goes. I mentioned it as a chat because in the poetry wish list, someone had suggested themeed poetry chats, and this sounded like a fun 'theme'.

are we any closer to figuring out how and when?
I'm still interested.

Godfather, I published in the same pub that Alan Ginsberg published in--albeit eight years later. He died three months after his piece was published. His poem was "Word," and I have yet to look it up.
Do you know it?

We could accomodate folks of different time zones once a week, I should think.

ohhhhhh, love the Irish...let's do what we can.
I'm in Vermont...I think that may be a country unto it's self.

Politically speaking I believe the Libertarians are trying to take it over.
consider yourself warned.

I'm out of line so much myself, I don't know that I could get us in line, but I'd love a jam on words--I've done it with music, I've improvised with other actors, poetry would be an incredible test of one's mind--plus it's hard to keep up with the talent here, I'm hoping it rubs off.
