There was a thread a few weeks ago about finding how often you use certain words or phrases while writing.

This site does just that, as well as a few other useful things:
textalyser.net (http://textalyser.net/)

I apologize if this has already been shared; i didn't notice.

I did an analysis of the first fifty pages of my MS. Pretty interesting stuff. Could be a useful tool for many writers.

Thanks for this. It's probably here somewhere, but for the new person it might be impossible to find so it can't hurt!

Hey Sandinista, I saw this earlier and you might be interested in it:

I'm posting a link here, and not sure it'll work, but if it doesn't--it's on the Freelance Writing board and the thread is called "MS Word Utilities for Writers."

Roger has very generously shared some things people can use in Word to do a few of the things that textalyser does.

I rely on my intuition. Help is always nice, but it makes it too mechanical. I like to read my stuff and watch for certain trends or repitition or whatever and then creatively fix it. Isn't writing funner that way?
