Hope this is in the correct forum, mods. If not, feel free to move it.

Linky.

This year it's been won by- argh! Passive sentence alert!

This year, Rachel Johnson won for her novel Shire Hell.

Johnson is quoted as saying:
I always wanted to win a literary award and to bag this coveted prize - a prize that has been won by admired giants such as Norman Mailer, Sebastian Faulks and Tom Wolfe - is, for me at least, a tremendous honour.

I won't copy/paste the winning paragraphs here; they're not particularly graphic but they are cringe-making IMO.

Oh my god. I'll admit to picking up a 'book' at my MIL's today that I thought was horrifilicious, but Wagnerian crescendo?

*makes mental note to find out who the agent was*

I think that means a German bursts through the door at the crucial moment, clashing cymbals together.

*insert your own joke about the Ride of the Valkyries here*

Location
on the precious Pacific.
I'm just trying to imagine a love scene where one participant is gripping the other participant's ears, and it's leaving a funny, non-sexy image in my head.
