This is a continuation of the "Posting Shorts on Website" thread I hijacked :) Send over your website addresses and I'll analyze/advise as best I can. Anybody else with SEO advice that I miss, feel free to chime in.

Thanks!

Sarah

It's not that hard guys, I am an expert at this. Search for Sharon Robards on google, and I, yes, they are all me, except for one or two, on the first three or four pages on google, depending on the day.

Actually, tonight, everyone is me on the first three pages, except classmates, and Brita Green Australia. It is really odd that my name would be on Brita Green Australia there in relation to the name that is, well known and relatively close to me...I'm not dead nor is a person that I am an aquaintance with but that's not for this post. Something scary is happening in the world.

Which keywords are you searching for? That's awesome you're showing up!

Sharon Robards

What will the majority of your potential audience be searching for? It's not likely to be your name unless you're already famous. I'm sure J.K Rowling's site gets a lot of hits for her name, but the average writer won't.

The first step is to decide what keywords your audience will use in searches. Those are the keywords you're optimising for.

Ok, I give you another example. My site and book is about "traditonal Australian recipes" with those keywords I come up second on google.

I have a very good understanding of SEO. I was building websites prior to the majority of the rest of the world having internet connection. For five years I had an internet resource centre on the internet which was ranked number one for that type of site for many years.

Actually, you don't pay to come up first on google search topics, but adsense.

It works on searches as well, pay enough on a topic, you'll come up in the sponsored links section. either on the side or right on top.

There no trick to it. Have your content be relevant to what you want people to search for. Use meta tags.
