Any clue on a surname, Robeiae? Zappa? Sinatra?

If it's Sinatra - Gods, I loved Old Blue Eyes, but..ahem..no, from a vocal technique point of view, he couldn't sing. But he could croon a nice line or two.

I like Sinatra, but a singer? No. He was more a vocalist with the ability to take a song and talk it as his own.

Certainly he didn't have the same singing chops as Dean Martin, Andy Williams, or Bing Crosby.

My understanding from the older generation who saw him in concert, etc, is that when he was young, Frank could really really sing to-die-for and greatly deserved all the adoration he got.

However, by the time I came along (whippersnapper that I am), the decades of smoking, etc, had taken their toll on his voice and he was running more on rep than ability and I really wasn't impressed.

'Tis sad, if you think about it.

Great phrasing, clear diction. But if you want to win $$$ in a bet, which I have done often, ask a "maven" who introduced One for my Baby. Usually they say Sinatra, bet they are wrong and you will win.

Astaire introduced it in a 1944 film.
Mercer sang it on a single, cut around 1945
The Sinatra version was released perhaps as late as 1950.
