Hi,
I'm looking for a beta reader . I'm a newbie who has written The Essence, a YA contemporary fantasy (96,000 words) and would love someone to read it over before I start querying. I'm willing to return the favor. If anyone's interested, please PM me.

Sample pages:

The Essence

The voices were back in full force, setting my mind on fire.
You cannot hide from us.
We are with you wherever you go.
I focused on the beautiful dark haired guy and tried to block them out.
“Are you from around here?” he asked.
“Well, I…” You must cross over. Time is short. I blinked. Not now, I didn’t have time to deal with this.
“Well?” He prodded.
I cleared my throat. “I’m not actually; I was born in Clairview…” I rolled my eyes conspiratorially. It is time you faced your destiny. “But I visit all the time.”
He held one of my hands in two of his. “If you’re only visiting, then I guess I should be more direct.”
I smiled. “I like direct. I’m a shoot-from-the-hip sort of girl.” We will not be ignored.
His sexy lips were moving, murmuring something. But I couldn’t hear what he was saying over the annoying whispery voices that buzzed around in my head.
“Oh would you please shut up!” I shouted. The guy let go of my hand. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean you I…”
He stared at me, his handsome face amused. Then, he opened his mouth and the whispered voices poured from it. “The time has come.”
“What?”
“You must cross over, else all will be lost.”
I didn’t stick around to hear what else he had to say. I jumped up; knocking over the rainbow beach chair I’d been sitting on and ran as fast as I could. I’d hoped he’d take the hint, but I could hear his heavy breathing behind me, could feel the heat from his body reaching out toward mine.
Loose sand gave way beneath my feet. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get traction. A clammy hand clamped on my shoulder. “There is nothing to fear,” the guy said in that creepy whispered voice.
I opened my mouth to scream…
I woke up, gasping and clawing at my blankets. Sweat plastered my hair to the sides of my face.
Ragged breath tore my throat as I looked at the clock. One in the morning.
Just when I thought I’d escaped, they found me again.

Hi, I really like your story. And I'm willing to beta read, but you have to tell me your specifications on what you want me to critique. Read my profile, then if your still interested, PM me.

If you'd like an extra beta, PM me, too. I'm bored and your story sounds exciting! Though it's long...even longer than mine! ^.^

Would you be willing to post your query along with it? This is mostly so I could get a feel for the plot and characters.

I'm interested, though!
