Do you guys usually follow the money? By that I mean, do you submit to the pro houses first, then work your way down? Or do you write for a specific publication? Or do you not try the pros because you don't think you're good enough?
I'm talking mostly to the short story writers here. But you novelists are welcome to chime in. In fact, you're encouraged to chime in.
Me? I've gone both ways. Most of them go out to the pro pays first, but I have written some with a specific, lower paying house in mind.
