South Park, and Why I'm going to burn in hell

South Park is one of those shows, where I laugh myself silly, then have an overwhelming need to take a shower and do one hundred hail marys.

I'm am amazed at how this show continues to shock me. Even though it is about the crudest form of low-brow humor possible, to the point where they have a team of oil well drilling scientist researching everyday on how to bring the show to new lows, the stuff they come upwith is brilliant.

Like the episode of "Imagination Land" in a word. Wow. I laughed until I almost blacked out (which is one of the many reasons i'm probably going to hell)

Ironically enough, I rarely watch the show. I plan on just buying all of the seasons dirt cheap some day. But when I do happen to stumble across an episode, i find that a few things happen

1) I nearly laugh myself unconscious (I mean this literally)
2) I get an interesting take on some aspect of humanity (believe it or not)
3) They manage to somehow shock me for the millionth time.

So, what are your thoughts about South Park

Why is it so successful? (As far as cable shows go)

Why don't some people 'get it'

What in the hell is wrong with me for liking this show?

Am I going to burn in hell for liking this show?

If you're going to hell you'll find me there with reserved beachfront property and a pitcher of margaritas. I love South Park. It's the most irreverent show on television and it cracks me up. Weekly.

My favorite episode is still the scientology episode where Kyle is yelling, "Sue me! Go ahead! Sue me!" at the end of it and all the credits go to John or Jane Doe. Priceless.

And is there really someone who doesn't get South Park? Seriously? Wow.

Yep, I've already rented a condo in hell with a nice big plasma TV. South Park is one of the very few reasons I regret not getting the TV hooked up in our new place. My husband will sing the Unclef#$ker song to end arguments on occasion, and it always works. He once sang it to my uncle, which was truly priceless. And my cousins' nickname for my dad is unclef&*ker.

We're a high-class family, we are.

I don't watch regularly, but I do catch an episode when I can. I find it terribly funny, and enjoy the attacks on the taboo or off-limits. There's a level of integrity to the show - nothing is too far, and there is humor in everything. When so much else is filtered, censored, or edited by the politically correct or the holier-than-thou, I'm glad that there is a place for honest comedy.

My wife, bless her, hates the show. But somewhere, somehow, little bits of Cartman have gotten into her brain and she's constantly cursing at hippies.

I love the show. But Cartman is always trying to get me to suck his balls. After "Imaginationland", my friend keeps saying "we had a deaaall, kyyylee!"

Do you remember back when it first started and they had that big cliffhanger episode about "Who's Cartman's Mom?" All week long they were advertising This Week The Secret Is Revealed!

Wednesday at 10 rolled around and instead of the big reveal they shouted April Fool! and did a full half-hour of Terrence & Phillip.

How can you not love that show?

I saw the movie in a theater packed with college kids. BEST. EXPERIENCE. EVER. We laughed so hard at Unclef*cker, and it just went downhill from there.

Those guys have yet to come up with something better or even remotely original and funny. Team America was a disaster.

Oh, I love that one!

I think Imaginationland is my favorite for sheer brilliance.

After the movie, of course, which was brilliant and hysterical. (The paean to Brian Boitano was priceless.)

South Park is one of only two series, IMO, to successfully pull off a musical (movie or episode). The other, of course, is Buffy.

Team America about killed me with funny.

No where, in the history of any movie ever made, has there been a funnier theme song.

The love scene with puppets. That is GROUNDBREAKING!!!

And their take on the Film Actors Guild F.A.G. was hilarious.

Obviously, you just haven't seen this movie enough times to appreciate it's genuis. I recommend you see it at least four more times, preferrably with a few shots of tequilla in you surrounded by some buds.

I think my favorite episode is probably the first (TV-aired, not the Jesus vs. Santa computer one, though that was pretty funny too), if only because it was the first time I'd ever seen anything like that and I was so shocked.* The giant probe suddenly unfolding....I think I fell out of my chair laughing.

Anybody got the christmas song collection? I play it every year, right along with Narada.

*also because I was in college and drunk off my ass....that might have helped.

My favorite episode is the one where Mr. Garrison invented the Car that looked like a capital "C"

It is important that you know that i've done extensive training in the air force, jumped out of planes, did the altitude asphyxia training where they put you in a chamber that simulates 30,000 ft altitude and you take off your oxygen mask, i've pulled Gs in a centrifuge, i've run 5 minute miles, and through all of that, I never ever got close to passing out.

When I watched that episode of southpark, and he invented that car, then 'showed' the t.v. cameras how to 'mount' and operate the car.

I feel out of my sofa laughing. And then, I started getting tunnel vision because I was laughing so hard, and the scene kept getting funnier, so much so that I could not breath, and my vision tunneled down to the size of a grain of rice, and as I lay on the ground about to pass out, my last thought was "This freaking cartoon is going to make me pass out". I then had to 'turn away' from the cartoon so that I could stop laughing and recover.

Had I not have turned away, I would have passed out.

So I can no longer play chicken with South Park. When it starts to kill me with laughter, I have to look away before I pass out. This has happened so many times that i've lost track, but I'll never forget my 'first'.

Who in the hell comes up with that stuff?

That one definitely made my top 5! Or the buttheads one, where the missing kid on the milk carton ended up being Ben Afleck? Jeeeeesus.

Scott Tenorman must die, where he made the kid eat his parents. All through the build up I knew little Cartman was going to get him back in a big way, but when it actually happened it was so over the top I nearly died.

You do realize that every single episode can be viewed for free at southparkstudios.com, right? Which is the only thing that saved me from spending hundreds of dollars on the DVD's.

I think its because, rather than say...FAMILY GUY...South Park actually has awesome political messages underneath its jokes. I love the jokes, but I also LOVE the messages these crazy people are trying to get across too.

"No, no Mr. Bay...those are special effects! We're looking for PLOT."

"A...aren't they the same thing?"

I think Southpark is hilarious.

A few years back, we went the 'back way' up to Keystone because an avalance had closed the highway. We went through Co. Springs and around, and right through Southpark, Colorado.

It was the highpoint of the trip for me. My family thought I was goofy.

My wife hates the show, so I don't get to watch it as often as I'd like.
