And NOW, the day we've all been waiting for! Prepare your pens/pencils/computers/chisels/typewriters/tape recorders because At MIDNIGHT TONIGHT we begin....

BARDFEST 2008: OTWELFTHO

The rules are simple. During the month of October we with intrepid souls will be writing a work of fiction, any length (at least 30k is encouraged but not required), any format, any genre, aaaaaaand they must be:

based on two of the Bard's plays, a tragedy and a comedy. (guess which, guess which!) Othello and Twelfth Night! Amalgamate them any way you like, but that's the only rule, your Bardfest entry must be based on those two plays.

At the end of the month, we'll compare our finished products (how? I dunno. bridges, crossing, get there, etc). This is a fun little game, not a competition, and this thread is meant to be a place where we can discuss our progress and whatnot.

so.

READY.

STEADY.

WRITE!!!!

:D

p.s. if you weren't around/paying attention during the beginning, the "decision-making" thread is here.

Okay, I got my setting, I got my characters, and I got my conflict. And I only had to change the gender on ONE of my Shakespeare inspired characters.

Next up: THE PLAYLIST!

Grace's hook from her campaign before voting:

TWELFTH NIGHT!!! twins, mistaken identities, a crazy old "fool," a beautiful woman, a pathetic and rather disgusting "villain."--what more could you ask for in a plot? LET'S HEAR IT FOR TWELFTH NIGHT!!!

and

OTHELLO!!! Jealousy, betrayal, a villain to end all villains, race relations, MURDER--let's hear it for OTHELLO!!!

and Dreamer3072 swiped these from SparkNotes:

Twelth Night:
Viola is in love with Orsino, who is in love with Olivia, who is in love with Viola’s male disguise, Cesario. This love triangle is complicated by the fact that neither Orsino nor Olivia knows that Viola is really a woman.

Othello:
Othello and Desdemona marry and attempt to build a life together, despite their differences in age, race, and experience. Their marriage is sabotaged by the envious Iago, who convinces Othello that Desdemona is unfaithful.

DISCLAIMER: I didn't write these. I swiped them from Spark Notes.
