I am self-publishing a collection of poems and have just received my first printed book. The book block is fine except for one niggling error. The page number is missing from the last poem in the book. It is numbered in the contents. The facing page, About The Author, is not listed in the contents and so received no page number. I'm wondering if the book designer omitted the page number of the poem to make it match the facing page, or if this is a printer's error.

In any event, to put in the page number at this point will require a fee of $400--yipes! My question is: Do you think it's worth it to make the change?

Before you make the observation that I am not likely to earn back the $400 based on the sorry state of poetry sales, consider this: I have positive comments from a Pulitzer Prize winner, two world famous artists, and a well-known journalist on individual poems in the book, mini-reviews, if you like, to start with. So, with luck, the book just might go somewhere in the literary world and make a difference in my life.

What do you think: Will fixing the error be worth it in terms of reviews or sales?

Thank you.

$400.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My vote is let the book go, as is.

See how it does and then when the time comes, have a second printing with the correction.

I don't see it hindering the book in any way.

I'll agree with kdnxdr. Let the first printing run as is, and have it changed in subsequent printings.
