My name is Robert--(though I sign in here as Roberto). I recently found the Water Cooler after signing up for AW's newsletter last winter at the suggestion of a friend. I hadn't spent much time reading the email newsletters themselves until recently, when I decided to re-engage freelance writing efforts after a lengthy lapse. Fortunately I've found some helpful information via the forums, which I began reading only this week; so I decided to register here in order to get greater benefit from them.
Though I have a background in journalism and had long dreamt of pursuing a part-time career in freelance writing, it wasn't until last fall that I had my first hit with the sale of an opinion piece to the online magazine Alternet, with a monthly readership of over 1.5 million. Alternet recently accepted another article proposal of mine, which will be run on their site within the next week or so.
At this point I'm exploring the challenges and possibilities involved in developing greater income through freelance work. I'll be reading often, and will offer whatever useful feedback I can to various questions that might arise here. Best of success to all who seek it in the writing fields,
