Long time lurker, finally joined up!
I've been "in" publishing for a while now. On the sales side. By that I mean, I manged a large comic shop in the early-mid '90's. Spent some time as a manager at a large B&N outside of Chicago and then, moved overseas and owned bookshops (2, new and used, w/coffee shop) with my partner for 6 years, before selling up and staying at home with my wee kidlets.
Since I have done those things, I am sure most you can guess, I have seen the slash and burn of vanity press and watched as people were royally screwed over, because they didn't know better. I would send people here. Try to anyway. So they could educate themselves, or at least, try to salvage what they could out of their hard work.
Anyway, I keep getting asked/contacted by people, asking about writing, publishing, publishers..yadda, yadda..so figure, you know..I need to join Absolute Write. I know stuff, they know stuff. Plus, the writing. Yeah. Want to get back into doing that again.
