Hi all, found this place by accident and thought it looked interesting. There seems to be a lot here but I'm not really sure how I'll keep up with it all. Other forums I hit the "new posts" button but here I'd be reading the forum all day and not getting any writing done not what I want ;)

So do you established people have any tips for attacking this place?

So who am I? Well, I'm a Brit living in Sweden (at the moment, also lived in Norway and Australia and hope to return to Oz). I've been writing far too long but never really seriously. I have a couple of projects on the go with about 10 and 20 thousand words completed and a full outline of another novel that I just completed today. Add a number of short stories, probably only one of which was ever publishable material and I lost it in a computer crash! :(

So, hi. See you all around.

//Mike

Welcome aboard.

Yes, it's easy to get overwhelmed here if you try to keep up with every new thread.

It's best to pick and choose. Find a forum to your liking and hang around it. We have a Beginning Writers, a Novel forum, Non-Fiction, Short Fiction, and so on.

Further down we have it set up by genre.

In between it varies between serious and fun.

Take your time. Make a post or two here or there. Soon you'll be one of the gang. Don't let the place intimidate you.

Cheers. Hopefully I'll be able to stick to the forums most useful to me without getting sucked into a new forum addiction ;)

Oh, and almost 11,000 posts - where on earth do you find time to write Ferret? ;)

Better to ask where I find the time to WORK. :D

Writing I do at night after the family goes to bed.

I lost a whole chapter, when for some reason I also lost Microsoft word ?? I am new here also-- It is a little over welming, but I kind of like it that way. Good luck with all your endeavors.

Welcome to AW. Hope you enjoy your stay with us.

How do you like your popcorn?

After you play catch up...if each day you hit new posts...there will only be a couple of pages to run through.

Welcome all. Just slosh your way through all the threads and become familiar with all that's here (it a lot).

I actually rather like that idea and may well steal it!

Welcome! Try to stay clear of the pirates and lunatics.

Well as an escaped lunatic pastafarian I know that more pirates means less global warming, so bring them on ;)

How do you like your popcorn?

Salted!

Ooo goody, fresh meat. :)

And now I'm scared ... ;)

I usually check out new posts here and in a couple of the writing forums I'm interested in. If I have a little more time, I try to check out some of the others from time to time.
Welcome to AW; glad you could join us.
