So here’s the deal…
I’ve been aware for sometime that there’s been a remake in the works for The Day The Earth Stood Still, and while I’ve been disappointed by MANY remakes of classic films I still like the idea of updating older films and seeing a new interpretation.
So I heard they cast Keanu… sounded good to me.
Then I saw the trailer… liked it.
But when I saw the poster with the tag line, “They’re Here. We’re Gone.” I kind of got a sick feeling in my stomach. (It wasn’t just a little blub at the bottom of the poster either - the tagline FILLS the poster).
Then the posters started to go up everywhere (if you live in LA you’ve seen them). The more I see it the less I want to see the movie… what sort of namby-pamby drivel is this? I feel it’s the tagline for an episode of Teletubbies. Makes me think that somewhere someone lacked a little creative effort and now I feel like the entire movie is going to suck.
So here’s the task… write a tagline that’ll make me want to spend $10 to go see the movie and I’ll give you rep point… matter of fact if you just write a tagline I’ll give you a rep point because ANYTHING has to be better than “They’re Here. We’re Gone."
