Thanks for sharing this link. I'm one of those people that gets locked into an editing nightmare. It just seems like fixing a bad haircut, or perhaps perfecting a good haircut for Project Hairway.
On the one side, this is absolutely true. We have to make our novels as tight as possible. But the other extreme is that person who lives a never-ending edit. I've heard some published authors stress the need to give up the attempt to write the perfect novel, or you'll never send it.
For me, I have to be able to read through the story and like it. I figure if I still like it after so many edits, it's probably good enough. That just makes sense because the more we read something, the more we should get sick of it.
This is one of those Goldilocks things. There's 'too much', 'too little', and 'just right'.
I'm not sure where I fall on this curve, but I did find a publisher. Now I'm waiting for their editor to get back to me, and I don't suppose it will be finished in one shot- of course in my dreams that happens.
