I finally got a region free player! Can you guys recommend some romantic non US movies and / or tv shows? I love the BBC, but all I know of is what's been released here in America. Thanks in advance!!

Sorry, all the non-US movies I know of were released in the US. Go figure.

Love Actually and Sliding Doors are great british films

El Mariachi is an INCREDIBLE Mexican Film that was done with one Camcorder. It is pure genius.

That's all I got. They're worth seeing and owning

maggieuc, if you want an invite to a totally legit site to download UK TV programmes, PM me.

No films or music because of copyright - which is why the site is legit.

If you have any affinity for Top Gear, may I heartily suggest the early ( presented by the Hamster) Brainiacs.

Scientists ( and the Hamster) blow up caravans with different chemicals to see what colour they go, John Tickle walks on custard, discover what happens when you put various things in the microwave ( they blow up), rate various explosives out of 10 for spectacularness, and of course testing the things you can't do while being electrified.

Marius et Jeanette (France)

Ma vie en rose (France) This is about a little boy who is convinced he should have been born a girl. A beautiful and bitter-sweet comedy film.

The Brotherhood (Korea)

Asoka (India - but not Bollywood style)

Spectre (Spain)

Dark Water (Japan)

East is East (England)

Salaam Bombay (India - again, not Bollywood style)

Strictly Ballroom is one of my favourites. It's Australian, and is a fun feel-good film, with lots of dancing, good music and the romance you're looking for.

My two favorite foreign films are My Left Eye Sees Ghosts (Hong Kong) and He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not (France).

I think you can probably get the US versions, though. I also hear good things about I Am a Cyborg But That's OK... also Hong Kong, I think.

eta: Nope! South Korean, that last one. Also My Sassy Girl, from S Korea, now that I think about it.

If you're looking for movies from any country, there's a Canadian movie from a few years back that is one of my absolute favourite movies of all time. WAYDOWNTOWN. But, sigh...alas, it is not a romance.
