I just rented and watched the first episode of True Blood (HBO) from Blockbuster for free! It's a promotion HBO is doing to get people to watch the show. It was pretty good (a little crazy, sex wise though). Go to Blockbuster and rent it for free! Seriously!

I can't. I don't have HBO, and I'm severely annoyed about this. :( True Blood looks awesome.
You can always watch it on itunes! You really should check the first episode out. It was good, even my boyfriend really liked it...

Don't I have to pay for iTunes?
I'm sorry to say yes. But it's only $1.99 per episode. That's $1.99 per week for what 13 weeks? Not too shabby as you'll own the entire season. I plan to do it. I don't have HBO but the first episode kind of got me hooked.

I've never been there, because I don't have use for it. But I really want to see this series. :(
Well, for all my enjoyment of new technology, certain things I refuse to let go of. Books. CDs. DVDs. I like having something solid in my hands.

I might have to break down and join iTunes just to see this.

But you can get HBO for $5 a month! :)

Ditto.

And isn't there a monthly membership fee? I've never looked into it because I think iTunes is evil.

No, there's no subscription fees. It's no that model (unlike Rhapsody, for example). You pay for what you want. I really like it. I don't have to buy an entire album -- just individual songs. I also can rent HD videos (or buy them if I want), and listen to free radio and podcasts.

You can definitely watch it on your computer! And Maestro is it really only $5 a month for HBO??? I thought you had to get a package deal. Who do you have cable through (a little birdie told me you're from Cincinnati too)? I have Time Warner, but it's just the basic 72 channels, and I don't (sigh) have dvr.

I refuse to let go of books and dvds. I only buy shows on itunes when I can't watch them anywhere else.

This premieres tomorrow, doesn't it? I'm interested in checking it out; I do have HBO, but I'll probably buy it on Itunes, too, if I like it. I like having things on there to watch. Between the Ipod and my Kindle, I'm never bored anymore. :)

TWC has so many packages I feel ditzy like Paris Hilton. But I do think you can just go a la carte. Call them and say you want to just add some premium channels like HBO, but not a whole package (I think they have the movie lover package or something that includes all the movie channels, but that's expensive).

Cool. Thanks Maestro! If that works I'm adding Showtime too (I can't forget dear old Dexter after all).

I think Maestro's right. I have TWC also and I was able to choose HBO and Showtime as the only movie channels we have. We originally had all 5 (those 2, The Movie Channel, Cinemax and Starz) but we use blockbuster online for movies and wanted to keep HBO and Showtime for the series. When I called TWC, they took the other 3 right off our package.
