Hey y'all,

Can anyone recommend any screenplays with great examples of poker games?
I'm trying to write one myself, and having a little trouble.

Thanks :)

hi stuck,

I wrote a short about poker player and there is a poker game being explained in the film. I'm kinda proud of it so I don't mind other people reading it.

Remember though. It's not that easy to write about a poker game. It's really not a cinematic thing. It's almost like filming a guy writing a book.

Anyway. I'll PM you the scene. Hope this helps.

Positively Fifth Street by James McManus. Not a screenplay, but worth reading if you're looking for poker play-by-play.

"Rounders."

Funnily enough, I hadn't heard of Rounders until today, when I stumbled across it on a keyword search on imdb - definitely one I'll have to look up.

Thanks for the other suggestions too everyone.

Bobdole - thanks for the scene. Interesting. The VO approach isn't really appropriate for me, but I'm grateful for every insight I can get :D

"Didn't like your scene" != "bitter like crazy."

You shared your work, you got feedback. If you don't think the feedback's accurate, that's your privilege, but don't go around insulting people for not liking your work (and giving specifics of what they don't like about the scene--it's not like anyone wrote "YOU SUCK").
