Hi all, I've been on and off the board reading fellow writers tips, suggestions and stories. My friend and I have been working on a script for sometime now and we got together over the weekend to finalise it - about 15 months of toil. Thanks to advice on another thread we're beginning the process of finding an agent.

I've actually completed two synopsis for stories i've had floating in my head and will begin writing these as well. I realise i'll need a body of work and that work needs to be good before anyone wants to take me on their books.

I was just wondering how many of you guys out there are part time writers. I'd love to write for a living full time, and hope one day this becomes a reality. But with working a 9-5 and trying to please friends, girlfriend etc it's very difficult to dedicate time to writing. How do you balance your time?

My dream is to write some more pieces of work, and pray they generate some interest - enough so i can write full time and not have to hold down another job. It just feels like I cant hit my potential as I can only give it 1 hour here and there during the week. Catch 22 or what?!

Hello and welcome!

I have a health condition, so I work and study part-time, which gives me time to write.

I made a blessing from a curse, but I sometimes get lazy or very tired so on some days I get barely any writing done.

My rule is to work on my WIP at least five days a week. One the other two days I try to squeeze in some research. I went on a little outing out of town this past weekend so no writing, reading or researching; it has done wonders for motivation, as today I feel that I'll get to be productive (at least for me-my "a lot" may be someone else's "a little bit").

I am amazed at how some people manage their schedule...

Welcome!

When the words inside your head just won't leave you alone - you'll find the time. :D

But until then, if you're too busy to write you might try dictation to get your thoughts down - in the car or any spare moment. After a while I usually feel the weight of obligation and wake up early before everyone else or lock myself away in a room somewhere to write.

I started as a part-time writer. A few weeks ago I retired from my full-time software designing job. Now I'm a full-time domestic servant - I still write part time. And I really thought things would change when I retired...

Anyway, welcome to AW.

Hello! I'm just beginning to write for real, and hope for a good turn of fortune to be able to quit my current job... it is very hard to find time for writing, so I sometimes have to do it in weird places like trains and such in order to write every day...

Welcome! :)
