I've been reading postings from this forum forever. Along with Preditors and Editors, this is probably the best resource for writers at every stage of their development and through this site, man... have I learned a TON about scam artists out there.

Anyway I am a lowly Canadian writer who is flogging a novel about a curmudgeonly 40 year old with super powers and you know, the netherworld. Will be happy to share my misadventures with anyone who'd care to listen. That said, I do have one observation for my fellow Canadian writers out there - well an observation to anyone who is a Canadian and in the habit of trying to get a SFF book published in Canada: it sucks to be flogging my book to American publishers because Canadian publishers won't touch Canadian SFF. To quote one agent who loved the story but didn't take me on - "This is a fantastic story that will never find a publisher in Canada because "we don't do" fantasy."

Sigh...

Happy Thursday!

Welcome! I have not been here long myself, but it is a great resource, I have learned much and continue to do so, and they are a thoroughly decent bunch.

Thanks all - I do have a non-writing related question for American contributors.... has anyone been to Sonic? We don't have them in Canada but the food looks kick-ass on the commercials!

Welcome to the wonderful world of advertising! :D

I've never been to Sonic, but I've also never seen an actual meal in a restaurant look as good as in the advertising pictures.

I'm glad you came out of the shadows; you were making me nervous, lurking there. Welcome to AW.
