Hello Everybody,
I'm new to AW and wanted to introduce myself. I can't wait to dive into the massive amounts of info in these forums.
I really need some sort of kick in the pants to get me writing on a regular basis. I have many stories spinning through my head and when I get around to writing them down they're not too bad.

Any advice on where to find fellow writers who will be able to inspire and motivate? Actually, it sounds like this whole site could do that.

I guess my problem is spending hours reading about how to write and how to submit (even though I have nothing to submit) and no time actually writing...because I think I'm a big chicken.

Now that I think about it, I might need a shrink more than I need another writer's website.

Anyway, I'm glad to be here and I look forward to meeting all of you.

Welcome to the shrink's couch. If you think you need a shrink you'll fit right in here. LOL. There's a wealth of info and support for writing here. Have fun and enjoy.

Welcome to AW! What genre do you write? If you're looking for something simple, several of the genre forums in Share Your Work offer challenges to spark people's creativity.

Good luck!

As Uncle Jim says, in his writing thread, the first thing you have to do is write for two hours every day, even if it's garbage. Even we chickens can write garbage. Welcome to AW.

Hey, Kotzie! Stormie's BIC advice is spot on. As for reading about how to write, I think the best source for that is the kinds of books you want to write. Pay lots of attention to your favorite authors. They're the best teachers in the world.

Your post really spoke to me - hilarious! I definitely think I need a shrink, too. In my opinion, the best motivation is reading that inspires you - or makes you jealous, whichever way you choose to look at it. ;) I'm constantly looking for motivation, or the perfect time of day, or the perfect lighting, and I've found you just have to choose to do it - chicken or not.

I love the fact that you say that when you write things down they're not too bad. It's good to know what you're good at.

Let me know if you're ever looking for a reader - I get the feeling I would enjoy your work.
