Has anyone seen Juno? Who the hell liked this movie other than pretentious film critics?

Overmature dialogue for a 16 year-old girl. Not funny, not dramatic, not charming. Boring dialogue, last forever. Good performances but who cares? The script sucks even though the writer won an academy award for it. Beurk!

It won a Teen Choice award for Best Comedy, so apparently a whole lot of regular teenagers really enjoyed it too.

I was eagerly awaiting this movie for months before the mainstream promo and absolutely loved it. Yes, at times it seemed a bit self-conscious, but overall it was very clever and thoughtfully made, and I appreciated a teen pregnancy movie that was unrealistically cheerful. It would have been a very, very different movie if it had gone the typical route and I doubt it would have made it past Lifetime.

Loved it. It was quirky and in spite of the overly sophisticated and glib dialogue, it was real. My daughter recommended it, and I was glad she bought the DVD. She said it was one of her favourite 'pregnancy' movies. Baby Mama was another.

Knocked Up was not.

I have to agree that regular teenagers actually liked it. I'm in high school, and I liked it. I know a lot of people from my school saw it and liked it too.

I think it's a cute movie -- very sweet with some quirky (although I do think it follows the same "quirky for quirky's sake" pattern) characters. But I didn't feel it was particularly Oscar Best Picture quality. There's no real dramatic conflicts or deep personal dilemmas. The relations were a bit superficial, to be honest. The exception was the character Vanessa -- I really feel for her. I think the script is decent but still, and Oscar? I think it's riding the Little Miss Sunshine wagon and it's the right time at the right place, and it certainly strikes a chord with young people. Perhaps it's a generation gap for me. I did like it, just kind of underwhelmed by all the Oscar buzz.

I loved it! I've worked in Hollywood for years, and it was one of the few times I was surprised and impressed by an indy.

I loved it. I think it's pretentious to hate it, actually.

I loved it. I'm 17 and I loved it. It was everything that it said it was going to be. It never claimed to be serious or maybe perhaps down to earth about this issue. Perhaps it did glorify teenage pregnancy, like some said, but who cares? I wanted to see a light-hearted comedy and that's what it said it was and that's what I got.

(And as a side note, Ellen Page is going to be in another movie coming out on DVD tomorrow! I want to see it so bad now.)

I didn't like it. I thought the characters were unlikeable and the dialogue was self-consciously clever. I saw it post-Oscars and was kind of baffled that it won best screenplay.

I liked it. I didn't think it was the best film since sliced bread, but certainly worth my time. The dialogue didn't bother me at all, and that's where I feel the screenplay gained Oscar attention.

Really? I thought it was a slice of Brilliant Bread dipped in Awesome Sauce!

I loved it so much I watched it twice. IN A ROW!

I liked it very much. I'd love it if it weren't for everyone talking about it so much (popularity gets in the way of my liking things...I admit it). But honestly, it was very good, and very well-done. The dialogue was very regional, which I think was why it rang hollow to many people. I don't get the "overly-sophisticated" criticism, though. Do people not think high school kids can be sophisticated?

I absolutely loved the approach, though. Seriously, there are way too many "teenage pregnancy" movies/shows/stories that go the usual "dramatic! problem!" route. As someone who's been in very much the same situation around that age...honestly, this movie came off as the most realistic I've ever seen on the topic. Well, from my point of view. I'm sure many kids react like bad Lifetime movies...but I just want to slap them. And it's about time someone came out for the rest of us.
