Latino Review is posting that they have seen a script dated 9/2007 for the upcoming V movie.

While it sounds like a great scoop, the synopsis (with appropriate spoiler warnings) seems to be a simple recap of the original V miniseries. My thought is that it might be a dummy script used for test screenings so that actors were reading parts from the original while keeping the new script under wraps to all except the main stars who need to be lured.

Real or fake, a V movie could be interesting with updates for the modern times, or as a continuation of the series of events. While it doesn't say much for the innovation of Hollywood SF output, it is a good story that could benefit from big screen treatment. We're not getting enough interesting alien SF lately, judging by my interest meter going to about 2.5 (out of 5) about Starship Troopers 3.

Mark Singer would need to be in a cameo, but only as long as everyone involved agrees not to pursue a Beastmaster update.

Are they still bringing much of the original cast back the way Johnson said some of them wanted? Personally I think they should go the BSG route and use maybe one or two of the old guys but that's it.

Looking at IMDb's page on the original, NBC reported back in 2003 that Johnson was making a follow-up that takes places after the TV series. Hopefully this is it?

Loved the miniseries,

would love it if they brought it back to the miniseries screen

As a movie, it could work, but I think it is a better story told via miniseries

Saw a preview for a V miniseries just tonight:

Jury is out, but don't have to wait long - premiere is in November.

If you're interested, cross your fingers it doesn't get canceled. It was supposed to air as a regular series, then ABC decided to turn it mini-series style so chunks of it will air now, in the spring, etc. Might be tough getting people to actually watch with a schedule like that ... but it's got geek appeal. And Elizabeth Mitchell from LOST and Morena Baccarin from Firefly are in it.

I saw the pilot at comic con and to be honest, i was underwhelmed. Yes, they upgraded it and there's the political aspect of it that is riveting. But lizard skin? That's so 80s. And are people really that naive in 2010? I just hope they don't have Anna (Morena Baccarin) swallow a guinea pig (she makes a great Queen Alien, though).
