Latino Review is posting that they have seen a script dated 9/2007 for the upcoming V movie.
While it sounds like a great scoop, the synopsis (with appropriate spoiler warnings) seems to be a simple recap of the original V miniseries. My thought is that it might be a dummy script used for test screenings so that actors were reading parts from the original while keeping the new script under wraps to all except the main stars who need to be lured.
Real or fake, a V movie could be interesting with updates for the modern times, or as a continuation of the series of events. While it doesn't say much for the innovation of Hollywood SF output, it is a good story that could benefit from big screen treatment. We're not getting enough interesting alien SF lately, judging by my interest meter going to about 2.5 (out of 5) about Starship Troopers 3.
Mark Singer would need to be in a cameo, but only as long as everyone involved agrees not to pursue a Beastmaster update.
