For those of you who aren'tt familiar with him, here's a link to the story
There are a few people in every musical genre who transcend their particular style and simply become great musicians, and Erik Darling was one of those. Not flashy, not an innovater, not really, but he had the soul of a great musician. And I'm not even a particular fan of folk music.
His solo album True Religion, sadly long out of print and never re-released on CD, is one of my four or five favorite albums ever. I'm going to dust off my old and badly scratched copy tonight and listen in tribute.
RIP
