Just curious, and trying to kill some time.

First book, first publisher, 6 months.

Other books? So far, not so lucky. :D However, we're nowhere close to despair territory, most of my others have been rejected once or twice and are onto the next. One she just got so it could have that golden "first try - sold" glow on it, too. We'll see.

There really is no average, though. I've seen 6 months, I've seen a year, I've seen longer.

I accepted long ago that this is a hurry up and wait business, and once the property is out of my hands, I forget about it. This makes my follow up on shorts none too swift, but it also means I'm busy writing the next things and submitting them. It works for me.

AW. A very nice place!
...initial sub list contained 20 publishers.
Think we've gone through most, by now.
Funeral services for the manuscript will inevitably be held shortly.
All welcome to attend. (Open casket ceremony.)

Good luck, Tom!
My first novel, literary, revisions completed to my agent's satisfaction June 24. Manuscripts sent to 10 editors June 26, interest from several editors, sale on July 1. We considered an auction, but the offer was too good.

I didn't believe it then, not sure I believe it yet.

I think it was something like 18...and I got an offer after 4 or 5 rejections. Went on sub in March, sold in July. First book.
