I don't know what to tell you except I've had the experience. The first script I sent to the Nicholls comp. disappeared into the great void of the unheard. Lots of people liked it. I still have it. Someday I will pick it up again and re-write it.
I know. You put your time in and send it with great hopes attached. You'd like some kind of repsonse, but you know going in it's not going to happen. 4,300 scripts. It's just too many to respond to. But the biggest bug is you wonder if you didn't place one outside of the quarter-finalist. Aye, there's the rub.
Nevertheless, it leaves you with an empty feeling. When they sent the email noting they had announced the quarter finalist I pessimistically said to myself, "yeah, right, another soft, cold-comfort way of saying thanks, but no thanks."
But I'll check the website anyway because, you know, you never know, really. And there I was! I was pessimistic enough to be pleasently surprised.
But if I wasn't on the list I certainly wouldn't stop writing. This is an endurance game.
