Sigh. Let the temptation begin. I have never watched a Harry Potter trailer, and I am not going to start now. It is so painful for me, but I just don't want to know any of the visuals before I see them in the movie. It's my own personal game, causes me no end of grief. I have issues.

Just watched it myself. It looks ... okay. Doesn't get me excited about it, so it's easy to stick by my initial feeling and skip this one.

It's the teaser trailer, meant to let people know it's coming and give a glimpse of what it's about, so I wasn't expecting anything huge. I've seen better and worse teasers, but I think this one does its job.

Mind you, the missus and I are already psyched for HBP, we're currently rewatching all the previous movies and may watch them again in the run up to the release.

Oh I'll definitely see it, but I thought the last one missed some of the best elements of the book. So I am not getting my hopes too high.

Is it wrong of me to think the young men are growing up nicely? I feel so- old.

I thought the quick image of "dead" Ron was the best shot of the trailer. Dumbledore's bit of fire magic is neat, too. I'm still skeptic on seeing it, though. The movies aren't really my cup of tea, but somehow the scenes in them still seem to come to mind when I read the books.

I do love movie trailers, though. Here's hoping the full trailer shows more of the whole story.

This movie releases the WEEKEND of PHILCON.
Oh, the irony, a huge sci-fi/fantasy con on the weekend of the HBP release. I'm sure many of the faithful will be torn...or just all go to midnight showings Thursday.

I can see many "let's see HBP while we're dressed up!" parties. Groups invading the movie theater near the hotel. Poor movie theater.

LOL. I can't wait. I'll be at the con all weekend, I'm sure. I don't usually do opening weekends. I like watching movies in an uncrowded theater, weeks after the release hubbub is over.

It looks awesome! As much as I liked book 6 I consider it the weakest novel out of the bunch. The movie looks great. The little boy who plays young Voldermort is a good actor. I loved the bit at the end when it flashed between adult Voldermort and his younger self. I heard that the last movie is going to be split in two so there are actually 3 more movies left.

I can't wait.

please lord, may there be much Snapishness in this one, for I shall be saddened if you limit The Rickman to but one crucial scene.

I think this is a GREAT trailer. It's ominous in a very quiet way, and it was a gutsy move to make the trailer about Dumbledore and Voldemort, with Harry as only a very minor figure. Of course, with something as culturally ubiquitous as HP, maybe you can get away with this. But still, it's intelligent in a way most movie trailers aren't -- it gives the viewer some credit -- and that alone amps me up to see the film.

I agree with you here. I think by now the only people watching are people who have a very good idea of where the story is going and have read the books. So yes, it's a nod to the readers.

I've never liked the HP films, especially since I know the story...I'm sure it would be different if I didn't know the story, I'd be all like "Suspense! So awesome!" but now I see them as simply boring...some eye candy to watch. I haven't even seen the 5th one yet. So I can't say I'm excited about this one...meh, I already know what's gonna happen...

Okay, all kidding aside from my previous post, I also like the way this trailer's set up. You have the story between Voldemort and Dumbledore, and it's Not Nice. You can feel the tension between them, and they do the quick-cut between Voldemort the Younger and Voldemore the Adult.

And then they start Hedwig's Theme, which is sweet and music box-y, and it just creeped the hell out of me. Rockin'.

Still haven't seen the trailor. but the descriptions here sound good.

To the person who said he knows whats going to happen so whats the point? Well, forme, I just love the whole world in the books and I see the movies as an extension of that. WHen I read them I don't want to put them down. For me it isn't about suspense and isn't ruined by knowing what is going to happen. I've been listening to the audio books lately and I pick up details I missed before - I figure I must skim some when I read or something. What I think would be cool though, since the movies are condensed, especially the later ones, is a Mini-Series(More like a maxi-series

), which would beable to have the time to give the books the proper scope since they'd have all the time they'd need to play with. Maybe in the future someone will tackle that, it would be quite the undertaking. DOn't get me wrong, I enjoy the movies, but the 5th one didn't include some of the best parts of the book and Ron and Hermione were almost background characters instead of major players.
