I just saw the leaked trailer for the remake of Friday the 13th, and while it doesn't look terrible...meh. Similarly, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes, Hellraiser coming next year, and I just heard that Michael Bay's remaking Nightmare on Elm Street...when will it end? Can we just have a good new horror franchise that isn't either torture-related or helmed by a convicted pedophile? Pretty please?

The slasher genre doesn't really appeal to anyone's sense of originality.
It's psychological or paranormal horror where the boundaries are pushed. They still manufacture retreads, but at least there's a wider catalog to pick from and occasionally a novel concept will slip through the board rooms that write these things.

although, I recently saw the original Hills have Eyes. It's good, but I think I may prefer the remake.
Since they were given an unlimited budget

Imajica as a movie. Wow. Can I have it animated and directed by the guy who did The Fall??
I'll watch a Hellrasier remake, just because it's Hellraiser. I mean, I watched Cynobites in Space, I kinda have to watch the remake.
remakes are driving me nuts! There are so many interesting and original novels out there that can be easily turned into a movie script.
