emperecy? emperacy?

I don't get any spelling suggestions when I try either and can't seem to find it on wikepedia. I mean... the word exists, doesn't it? If not, I'm totally using it anyway. :tongue

Thanks for any help!

I think maybe I described the situation incorrectly. It's a book title in the story I'm writing.

When Good Rulers Go Bad: A History of the Emporacy.

Since it's a fantasy, see anything wrong with just using it? Even if it's a made up word, does that look like the way it would be spelled, if it existed? Thanks!

Emperoracy would be my choice if I were making up a word.

If you want to go with the made-up word, I myself would spell it "Empiracy," but that's just me, and I obviously have no clue what I'm talking about.

Yeah but you wouldn't use the blanket term "imperialism" if the book is confined to the the rule of this one particular imperial family, right?

No, just in the context of his book title, "A History of Imperialism," by perhaps including the family name, i.e., "A History of Caesar Imperialism."

I don't want to be a downer, scully, but the first things that would turn me off about your title is beginning it "When Good Rulers Go Bad". It almost sounds like a comedy.

Just an opinion.

Sounds like something they'd air on the History Channel, actually. Or Dateline NBC.

"Hello, I'm Chris Hansen with Dateline NBC, and we're doing a story on evil Imperialists. If there's anything you'd like to say, we'd be glad to hear it, otherwise you are free to leave."

It's actually supposed to come across as comical. The book itself is not a comedy book. Rather, it's like those specials FOX used to air "When good animals go bad" -- the subject matter was serious but the titles were ridiculous.

So... with all the talk of imperialism and several madeup words :tongue let me give a better explanation.

The land is ruled by one emperor at a time. I'm establishing through this, and other means, that many years ago there was a very bad, smarmy emperor. (And others throughout the history of the world) I really want to use the word Emperor in some form.
