A short fiction contest. Great prizes...only $10.00 CDN to enter.
Deadline: April 30, 2005
Open to: All writers (Canadian and International) 18 years of age and older. Contest is not open to contest judges and their immediate families.
Prizes: First $500; Second: $300; Third: $200
Honourable Mentions to be awarded per WCDR discretion Entry Guidelines:
Stories may be of any subject matter, type or style.
Entries must be original, unpublished, not submitted elsewhere for publication or broadcast, not accepted elsewhere for publication or broadcast, and not entered simultaneously in any other competition. This includes different "versions" of the same story.
There is no limit to the number of entries you submit, but each one must be submitted as a separate entry with the appropriate entry fee.
Length of each entry must not exceed 2500 words.
Submissions:
Mail submissions: Send 2 copies of each story, one copy with complete author information (including name, address, phone number and email) and one blind copy (with only the title—no identifying information). Entries must be in 12-point font, double-spaced, single-sided, on plain 8 1/2" x 11" paper. Pages should not be stapled together. The title and page number should appear at the top of each page.
Electronic submissions: Click on the "Use PayPal for Submission" button below. Follow the instructions for payment. The submission details will be shown after the payment is processed.
Entry fee is $10 per submission.
Mailed submissions must be accompanied by payment via cheque or money order, in Canadian funds, payable to The Writers' Circle of Durham Region.
On-line submissions must be paid via credit card or PayPal account at time of submission.
Criteria: All judging is blind and the decision of the judges is final. Entries are judged on originality and the sense of the craft of fiction shown in the work.
Deadline: Entries must be postmarked no later than April 30, 2005.
