Just seen an episode of The Simpsons which I haven't seen before - where Marg writes her first novel.
What a treat, my ribs are aching from laughing. Lines such as "that's the first paragraph done, brownie time!" and Homer's "I'm not lying, I'm just writing fiction with my mouth!"
Classic.

Oh my god I love that episode! I forget what the first line of her manuscript was, but it had me cracking up. I love Marge!!

She has the best one-liners! Remember the episode where they appear on Gerry Springer and she uses the F word?

I think the first line of her manuscript is, "There once was a girl from Nantucket."

But the episode also includes Marge writing the immortal line:

"Swim, swim, swim!" thought the whale, as he flapped with his... flappers!

(Which my husband quotes to me every time he sees me at my laptop looking like I need some literary inspiration.)
