Does anyone know how this exactly works?
Earlier today, my book The Hockey Farmer was ranked at around 27, 000 and now it is at 580. What exactly does this reveal and how accurate is it?
Thanks in advance.
The ranks are listed by a host of criteria including category, genre, sub-genre, etc., and are updated to reflect sales in a given 2 hour period. Depending on the activity in a given category, the sale of one or two books can move you a half-million spots on the rankings, or only a couple of positions.
Those hourly Amazon ranking updates by genre aren't a great barometer of sales. Now, if you were to land on the Top Sellers list in the overall "Books" category, that's a different story.
