These are the things that remain on our TV screen during the course of a program, residing in the lower right hand corner, reminding you of the network you're watching (and probably preventing bootlegging).

Now. I think they've crossed the line into OBNOXIOUS. They've devolved into animated distractions, reminding you about what's coming up next or which DVDs the network has for sale. The main one that has creeped me out to sheer terror, to the point of sending an email to the network saying I won't be watching them until it's gone is this mess: http://www.wgnamerica.com/

See that in the upper left hand corner of your monitor? Yeah. That's their screen bug. It doesn't blink or anything like that, except when it comes flying up onto the screen after a commercial, BUT IT SITS THERE AND STARES AT YOU WHILE YOU'RE TRYING TO WATCH TV!

The ones that I hate the most are those that pop up to cover something important. Say you're watching something kind of educational (like History Channel International) and they're talking to some expert and maybe, just maybe, you want to know who the expert is, so you wait, knowing they'll post his name and maybe a book s/he wrote that you might want to read. And when they post his name - and you miss it because History Channel is telling what you're watching AT THAT MOMENT. Not what's coming up next, but what show you're actually watching as they're telling you what you're watching... Grrr...

Hate, hate, hate them. It's one of the main reasons I'll buy a commercial DVD set for a program I like rather than record it myself. The channels are so scared you'll leave they can't let you watch the show you've chosen to tune into in peace. Instead they've got to promote what's up next hour, next day, or next week and constantly remind you what you're watching now.

The bugs on the bottom are bad enough, especially when they cover up useful information as Jersey points out, but the channels that place them up top really irk me. What makes them think blocking the actor's head is a good idea?

I hate them. The ones on TNT are the worst. Kyra Sedgwick comes out in the lower right hand corner and flashes a light around while I'm trying to watch a show. I wish she wouldn't do that because it really makes me hate her. And I like The Closer!

I hated them when they first appeared back in the 80s. Then I got used to them.

I guess they must have realized I was used to them, because now they have whole little vignettes going on down there. Sci-Fi channel seems to have pieces of episodes in the lower half of the screen. I see Jason and Grant ghost hunting all the time down there.

But I really find it annoying when they block something in the show that I'm trying to watch. Like subtitles.

And to be honest, I've always hated the local channels when they throw an entire weather map up there to show you that some bad weather is coming.
