I recently bought his collected poems. I'm reading them just before going to bed. I can't believe what I have been missing over the years. So much imagery, so great a lyric poet, if I could write poems 1% as good I would feel great.

I love things like "The beach extends, peopled with solitudes". I'll just have to borrow something like that for one of my poems.

I paid full price. Don't regret it at all. No half price places around here. Should keep me busy nights for a few months. Most of his poems are medium to long to very long, but who cares. So much image to take away!

some of his occult obsessions are hard to digest. He also deifies his close circle of friends - literally - which would be nice if they were interesting - but they're mostly bored sensualists from manhattan

I usually pay little attention (some) to poets background or sexual orientation. Only when they get preachy do I.

Oh I meant the themes in his work...most prominently - the changing lights of sandover
