What a fantastic place you have here! I found it just yesterday and was really looking forward to getting back here today.

A little about me then - I write poetry mainly, and have also written a children's book. I'm a Scot, born and bred, now living in TN with my fiance, my teenage son, and a sweet but ugly dog. I love them all dearly. I'm pretty new at this whole writing deal. Even though I started writing a few years ago, the sum of my work is a bit on the sparse side (and that's me being kind to myself lol). I tend to do it in fits and starts and really need to learn to be more disciplined about it, so I'm looking forward to reading the threads and getting tips on that. If that fails, I may have to resort to supergluing myself to the chair...

Congratulations on a brilliant forum. :Hail: :hooray:

Hey Rose Red. :hi: Welcome to AW. I"m sure you will find all the help you need here.

By the way, I love the name. It reminds me of that Stephen King movie. Is that where you got your name from?

You're making me feel all nostalgic :)

Hi sthrnwriter and jdkiggins

I used to be a big Steven King fan for many years, switched my allegiance to Dean Kootnz and then Clive Barker. It's been a long time since I read any horror books, though I used to devour them.:D

It's funny how your mind works..I couldn't think why I picked that, but now that you mention it, I watched the miniseries marathon the other week, and I remember thinking how much I liked the name. My subconscious must have dug that out when I was trying to pick a handle! I seem to remember dimly that Rose Red was Snow White's sister too, but I could be wrong, since I have no idea what the story was.

Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome Rose Red. Hope you enjoy the great forums here. (Your name makes me think of Red Rose...the tea that can't be bought in Britian. Only in Canada, they say!)

Have fun and keep writing!

I just couldn't stay away, lol

Thank you Torin, CaoPaux, KTC, CactusWendy and Sonya for the welcome messages. I don't think I've ever come across such a friendly forum before! After being here earlier today, I actually felt like writing again for the first time in ages and dusted off my pen. It wasn't up to much, lol, but it's a start!

Hello Rose,

I'm very new here myself. I happened to see your name. I got married 30 years ago because I sent several single women in my chuirch a greeting card "The Rose", a poem I'd written. I asked every one of them not to mention the fact that they'd received it. One woman, hugged me twice as tightly as she normally did and kissed me on the cheek. Anoather one winked at me. My (future) wife responded even though I'd asked her not to. It started us writing letters and sharing poems.

It all started with the rose. Anyway, welcome aboard. One of these days I'll introduce myself.
