just so you guys know, ground hog day was written as a voice over and changed to no voice over when they made the movie.
the completely changed the first act and made some of it the first act of the second act. talk about completely changing a script.

the story starts with the song. he's already in his funk. his in hell already, he's been in hell for months.
the reveals of the second act like insurance guy, saving the kid, leaving town. he gets in the radio stations van and he tries to escape - gets snowmobiles, but nothing works, he can't get out.
in the movie the set piece is the town and the first act is set up. and the second act starts as page one starts in the script.
in the script, bill murray (Phil) talks in voice over about how hard it was to escape this fate he's been dealty. he tries a dozen different things to leave the city but he can't, this is all told in voice over.
he gets a map and draws a circle from the point of where he is... he does all kinds of things all through the first act to get out.... but never can.
PHIL VOICEOVER: i found that i could make it to the altoona airport just in time for a break in the blizzard thing.
phil moves forward to the front of the line
